The strike embarked upon by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has begun to take its effect as activities in different sectors have been paralysed.
Activities at the different courts in Ibadan were on Thursday paralysed following the compliance with the order for the strike.
At the Federal High Court, the Court of Appeal and the National Industrial Court, in Ibadan, it was observed that litigants, lawyers and court officials were locked out.
Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Oyo State Chapter, were at the various courts as early as 7:30 a.m. to ensure compliance by the judiciary workers.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, has also joined the strike, thus paralyzing activities in schools.
In Makurdi, the inauguration of Benue Micro-Finance Bank slated to begin at 10 a.m. at the banks’ office complex in Makurdi was disrupted.

The bank which is an offshoot of the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) was scheduled to be inaugurated by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
Guests were already seated awaiting the governor’s arrival when suddenly labour officials stormed the place and forced the event to an end.
The officials were chanting labour solidarity songs and slogans as they took over the arena.
In Lagos, the two gates to the premises of Ikeja High Court were closed following the strike.
Chief Registrar of the Lagos State Judiciary, Mrs Taiwo Olatokun, could not gain access to her office because the administrative building was also under lock and key.
Officials of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) were, however, unavailable to answer enquiries.
NLC has embarked on the strike as a result of the refusal of the government to implement the new minimum wage which the workers are seeking.
NLC is proposing a N66, 500 minimum wage as opposed to the N18,000 currently being paid.
