From the look of things, former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Working Committee, Prince Uche Secondus, is the favourite to become the chairman of the party.
This is as a result of the permutations ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The party has zoned the Presidency to the North and vice presidential candidate is most likely going to come from the South West.
By this calculation, electing anyone from the South West as chairman may spell doom for the party.
This is one of the main reasons the governors are behind Secondus.
The Next Edition gathered from reliable source that huge amount of money was disbursed to delegates for them to vote Secondus.
An observer, Solomon Ogoh said he witnessed the “sharing of $10,000 to delegates.”
His words: “What is happening right now is mere formality. Uche Secondus is already the winner. I advise those thinking the South West would produce a chairman to forget about it. They shared $10,000 to most of the delegates for the sake of Secondus.”
Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, is also believed not to be in support of a South West candidate due to his own presidential ambition or vice presidential ambition if he fails to achieve the former.
To make matters worse Professor Adeniran who is one of the favourites to win from the South West, The Next Edition gathered, was not backed by most of the aspirants from the South West that withdrew from the race.

Rather, some of them threw their weight behind Prince Uche Secondus, it was gathered.
Many political observers on the field are of the view that the former acting chairman of the PDP National Working Committee has the experience to move the party forward.
He is believed to also know how to relate with the politicians.
Adeniran on the other hand, is a credible candidate with a clean track record.
He is said, however, not to have the political wherewithal and necessary support to win.
However, the voting is going on and suffice to say it is not over until the last minute as there are still permutations going on even as voting is going on.
