A man, Eno Ofem, has been arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court Apo, for allegedly impersonating a staff in the office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
Mr. Ofem, an indigene of Cross River State, was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
The suspect, said to have lost an election to the House of Representatives in 2015, was charged before Justice Valentine Ashi, on six-count charge after a petition was written to ICPC.
The ICPC said the suspect made about N100 million from unsuspecting Nigerians on the pretext that he is a special adviser to the chief of staff to the president.
Mr. Ofem was said to have defrauded people by promising to influence their appointments as ministers, members of government statutory boards and commissions.

The anti-graft agency said it found pieces of evidence of funds deposited into the bank account of the suspect since June 2016.
It said the acts contravened Sections 324 and 322 of the Penal Code Act and Cap 352 Vol. 4 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004.
When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and filed an application for bail through his counsel, Edidiong Usungurua.
The ICPC’s legal team led by Elijah Akaakohol, never opposed the application but demanded stringent conditions.
While ruling on the application, Justice Ashi ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody pending the commencement of hearing on the case on January 16, 2018.
