Labour leaders have said the government has till December to fully implementation the N30,000 new national minimum wage.
They also warned of dire consequences in the instance that any reduction is made on the N30,000 agreed by the Tripartite Committee on the National Minimum Wage and submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari in the Committee’s report.
President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Bobboi Bala Kaigama, and the Secretary General of the Association of Senior Civil Servant of Nigeria (ASCSN), Bashir Lawal, gave the warning at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the ASCSN in Abuja on Tuesday.

They warned also that any further delay in the passage of the bill on the new minimum wage would have negative consequences.
The labour leaders said Nigerian workers are patiently waiting for the President to forward an executive bill on the minimum wage to the National Assembly for passage into law.
Meanwhile, in response to labour’s ultimatum, the governors under the umbrella of the Nigeria Governors Forum have scheduled an emergency meeting in Abuja later today.
The meeting to be chaired by the chairman of the Forum, Gov. Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, is expected to take a decision on the amount the governors will be able to pay as minimum wage.
