Boy, 12, drowns in a well in Kano

A 12-year-old boy, Saifilahi Isa, on Tuesday drowned in a well in Bagadawa Community in Dawakin Tofa LGA of Kano State.

Spokesman for Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Wednesday that the incident occurred at about 3:08p.m.

He said Isa was sent by his mother to go and fetch water in the well.

“We received a distress call on Tuesday evening from our division at Dawanau at 3:08p.m. that a boy had fallen into a well.

”On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at 3:25p.m.

“Isa was rescued unconscious and was conveyed to Dawakin Tofa General Hospital where he was confirmed dead,” Mohammed said.

He advised parents who had wells in their homes to raise their heights and provide covers for same to protect children.
