Zikist-Buharist Movement (ZBM), South-East zone, has applauded the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, for the apex bank’s new policy, reducing all bank charges.
ZBM also commended Emefiele and his team for Anchor Borrowers programme, revival of palm oil and textile, among other intervention programmes embarked upon to diversify the economy and reduce frightening inequality in our dear country.
Some of the bank charges got more than 50 percent cut in the new CBN policy, which takes effect from January 2020.
Reacting to the development in a statement, Secretary of ZBM, Godwin Onwusi, described the new policy on bank charges as timely and in line with the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
According to Onwusi, the policy has relieved Nigerians of the burden of obnoxious and suffocating charges by commercial banks.

Onwusi said the policy would leverage on cashless policy and further improve ease of doing business and create more favourable investment climate in the country.
The statement read: “Zikist-Buharist-Movement (ZBM) hails the landmark decision of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for reduction of banks and other financial institutions obnoxious charges; as it will in doubt induce financial inclusion and encourage cashless society.
“ZBM commends the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele and his team for protecting Nigerian masses from the 1% class who unconscionably enjoy multiplicity of charges without investing commensurately in our economy.
“ZBM is at a loss why the one percent class is only interested in posting billions of profit from obnoxious charges and prohibitive interest rates; when they are aware that 61 percent of electronic transfers is from micropayment of N10,000 and below, representing the broad masses of our dear country.
“We call on CBN to go deeper as the obnoxious charges are antithetical to the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari to lift millions out poverty.”
