The Super Eagles of Nigeria are out of the World Cup after losing to Argentina on Tuesday.
Nigeria went into the game needing a draw to make it to the round of 16.
Unfortunately, a late goal by Marcos Rojo made it 2-1 in favour of Argentina.
Since the painful defeat, Nigerians have been reacting on social media.
Some are insinuating that the referee and other match officials were not fair to the Super Eagles.
A football enthusiast, Tajudeen Morafa, believes that the officials did not want Lionel Messi to leave the competition early.
He said: “They wanted Messi to qualify and that was obvious from all that happened in the match. As for Odion Ighalo and Kelchi Iheanacho, they are now in the hall of shame like Yakubu Aiyegbeni who missed an easy scoring chance in 2010.”
Senator Ben Murray Bruce also reacted.

Twitting, Bruce said: “Great game Super Eagles of Nigeria. The score line doesn’t fluctuate the position of our hearts. We won together, we lost together. We remain proud of you guys.”
Aside from Nigerians, football lovers from other African countries sympathised with the Super Eagles.
A Ghanaian who goes by the name Fred Mensah on twitter said: “No matter how much we make fun of Nigerians, we are proud of them. They played well throughout the tournament but were just unlucky. You really did your best. Congratulations on representing Africa in the best way you could.”
Koulibaly Dialo from Senegal wrote: “I really wanted Nigeria to make it so that it would be us and them representing Africa. Now we are the only African team left in this competition. Kudos to Nigeria. You have a team for the future.”
The next World Cup comes up in Qatar in 2022.
The consensus from most of the fans is that this team should not be disbanded. They are still young and can only get better with time.
