Anthony Okolie, the Delta State-based trader, who was detained by the Department of State Services (DSS), for using an MTN SIM card previously used by President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hanan Buhari, has given the Department 24 hours to pay him N10m as ordered by a Federal High Court in Asaba last week.

Recall that Okolie was illegally detained for 10 weeks by the DSS for purchasing and using a SIM card which had previously been used by the President’s daughter.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba in his judgment, in a suit file by Okolie challenging his detention, last week, awarded N10m to Okolie against the DSS for the illegal detention.

In a letter addressed to the Director-General of the DSS, Yusuf Bichi, dated May 21, and signed by his lawyer, Tope Akinyode, the businessman demanded that a cheque of N10m must be issued to him within 24 hours.

The letter was acknowledged and received by one Mafala on behalf of the DSS.

The letter read in part, “We have been instructed by our client to recover the said debt of N10, 000, 000 from you. You are therefore requested to forward your cheque to us forthwith in settlement of the judgment debt.

“Take notice that unless we receive our cheque in settlement within 24 hours’ receipt of this letter, we shall have no choice but to take all steps available under the law to recover the said sum.”
