‎Dr. Unyime Idem has facilitated the employment of an Akwa Ibom indigene, Andimek Essang Ibekwe, into a leading Federal Government agency, reaffirming his commitment to expanding Akwa Ibom representation in strategic federal institutions.

‎Idem disclosed through his Facebook handle that the letter of employment was formally handed over to the beneficiary over the weekend at his office in the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

‎He described the gesture as part of the gradual fulfilment of his target to facilitate the employment of 1,000 Akwa Ibom people into key Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

‎According to him, the employment initiative is being pursued alongside his overseas training programme for 100 Akwa Ibom indigenes, which he instituted in 2024 to build capacity and enhance competitiveness for opportunities within and outside the country.

‎While congratulating Ibekwe on her appointment, Idem charged her to be a worthy ambassador of Akwa Ibom State and to uphold virtues such as passion, commitment, sincerity and professionalism in the discharge of her duties.

‎He also encouraged her to put God first in all endeavours, noting that his own journey had been shaped by divine grace.

‎Idem expressed optimism that sustained representation of Akwa Ibom people in federal MDAs would, in the next 10 to 15 years, produce directors, permanent secretaries and other top management officials from the state.

‎He said this would help attract more federal projects and programmes to Akwa Ibom, reduce pressure on the state government, and address the existing quota gap that limits Akwa Ibom presence in managerial positions at the federal level.

‎Responding, Ibekwe expressed gratitude to Idem for facilitating her employment and pledged to make him and Akwa Ibom State proud through exemplary conduct and strong performance in her new place of work.
