The University of Lagos Consultancy Services Limited (Unilag Consult Ltd) is set to host a landmark event in honour of His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, in recognition of his exemplary leadership rooted in vision, inclusivity, and integrity.
Scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the J.F. Ade-Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos, Akoka, the event will feature the launch of a new book and an international public lecture aimed at highlighting best practices in governance and leadership.
According to Professor John Lekan Oyefara, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Unilag Consult Ltd, the centrepiece of the event will be the unveiling of “Leadership Chronicle of Governor Douye Diri”—a compelling publication that captures the governor’s leadership journey, achievements, and impact on governance in Nigeria.
The event will also attract a distinguished audience of national and international dignitaries, including scholars, policymakers, diplomats, and thought leaders. It will serve as a platform for robust discussions on leadership, ethics, and innovation in governance, with speakers drawn from both Nigeria and abroad.
A key highlight of the occasion will be the formal inauguration of a Professorial Chair in Leadership and Good Governance at the University of Lagos. Established in honour of Governor Diri, the Chair aims to promote cutting-edge research, teaching, and policy dialogue on ethical, transparent, and people-oriented leadership.
“This initiative not only celebrates the inspiring story of Governor Diri’s leadership,” said Professor Oyefara, “but also lays the foundation for a sustainable academic legacy that will drive rigorous inquiry into governance systems across Nigeria and the African continent.”
The event underscores Unilag Consult Ltd’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and leadership development, with the Professorial Chair expected to shape future generations of scholars, leaders, and public servants.
