The new legislators are Lawal Gumau (Bauchi South senatorial district) and Ahmed Babba Kaita (Katsina North senatorial).
Two new senators took their oath of office on Wednesday, with Senate President, Bukola Saraki, presiding.
The legislators are Lawal Gumau (Bauchi South senatorial district) and Ahmed Babba-Kaita (Katsina North senatorial).

While Gumau replaced Senator Ali Wakili, who died on March 17, Babba Kaita replaced Senator Mustapha Bukar, who died on April 4.
During the election to get Wakili’s replacement, All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Mr. Gumau, who was a member of the House of Representatives, recorded 119,489 votes to beat the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Ladan Salihu, who recorded 50,256 votes.
To replace Mustapha Bukar, Ahmed Babba-Kaita, recorded 224,607 votes to beat his elder brother, Kabir Babba-Kaita of the PDP who recorded 59,724 votes.
