Three persons Olushola Orishegbe, Tijani Morufu, and Feromi Arewowo, on Thursday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly threatening the life of a trader.

Orishegbe, 22, Morufu 21 and Arewowo, 18, all residents of Jakande Area of Ketu, Lagos, are each facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and threat to life.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 28, at Jakande Market, Ikosi, Ketu.

Ihiehie said the accused threatened to kill the trader when he tried to stop them from intimidating some market women.

“The accused, under the influence of alcohol and hemp, tend to get crazy in the market. They steal goods and harass women traders,” he said.

‎According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened sections 56 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.‎

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, however, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Kubeinje said the sureties must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until March 13 for mention.
