The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen, has urged women all over the country to be resilient while being confronted with challenges.
The Minister said this on Tuesday in Abuja during a news conference to give an update about the activities lined up for the 2022 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration slated for March 8.
Tallen also gave the advice following the turning down of the 35 per cent of women demand for representation in all aspects of leadership positions by the National Assembly during its constitutional amendment session on Tuesday.
She urged women not to give up on their demand for leadership positions in the country until they took their rightful place in the struggle for gender equality, saying that better days were ahead.
She said that the 2022 IWD with the theme “Gender Equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” was noted in the right direction for the women cause.
Tallen said the theme also aligned with the status of women internationally adding that, the roadmap would ensure no one was left behind.
“We must ensure that activists join hands to transform the lives of women and girls; we must incline ourselves to food security and leadership role.
“We will continue to push forward and re-strategise, it is now time to collaborate with other African women and youth until we get our demand.
“In a few weeks, we will flag-off a coalition that will be tagged “Women reconnect initiative”, we will reengineer existing structures.
“We commend the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, for the support he has given us as women to succeed, we also appreciate the wife of the Vice President.
“We appreciate all top government functionaries who have been supporting our cause,” she said.

Tallen also disclosed that she had been receiving calls from parents about Nigerian children who were tracked down at the border following the happenings between Ukraine and Russia.
She said that government was on top of the situation to ensure the children were brought back safely.
The United Nations Women Country Representative, Ms. Comfort Lamptey, gave a goodwill to commemorate the 2022 IWD.
