The University of Lagos, UNILAG, has postponed the screening of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates which was billed to start on Monday.
The suspension resulted from the strike embarked upon by the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU.
In a statement issued by the Senior Assistant Registrar of UNILAG, Mrs Taiwo Oloyede, the screening was postponed indefinitely.
Oloyede said the strike had disrupted academic and administrative activities in the university.
The statement reads in part: “The postponement is indefinite; a new date will be announced.
“Candidates are enjoined to check the university’s website regularly for updates.”

It would be recalled that the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), Non Academic Staff Union of Universities and Associated Institutions (NASU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) jointly embarked on the strike to protest government’s failure to fulfill its earlier agreement with them.
Among other things, the unions are protesting the poor system of operation and lack of good welfare package for their members.
