Speeding Train Rams Into Hilux Pickup In Lagos

A tragic accident occurred on Sunday, July 21, when a moving train collided with a Toyota Hilux pickup at the level crossing at Ilupeju Bypass, Mushin area of Lagos.
The incident took place around 4:30 p.m., causing significant disruption in the area.

The Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) quickly responded to the scene to manage the situation.

According to reports, the agencies were able to control the traffic and began initial rescue operations.

Details on the cause of the accident are still emerging, but eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the Toyota Hilux attempted to cross the railway line despite the warning signals.

The collision caused severe damage to the vehicle and disrupted train services temporarily.

LASTMA and LASEMA officials are currently working to clear the wreckage and restore normalcy to the area.

The Next Edition understands that there is no fatality recorded in the accident.

Ajetunmobi Ridwan Olawale, the senior special assistant on media to the Lagos state governor, tweeted: “Train accident reported in Mushin: A speeding train just rammed into a Toyota Hilux pickup at a level crossing at Ilupeju Bypass, Mushin.

“The incident happened at 4:30 pm. No fatality recorded at this time.”
