In the event of fire outbreak it’s important to get yourself and family members out first before thinking of your possessions.

If your house was on fire, what would be the first thing on your mind? Parents would go for their kids that’s a given. What if you don’t have a child, would you want to save your property or maybe your documents?

Bearing in mind your Adrenalin would be in high gear in such a situation and confusion is bound to set in.We asked some people the question and here are their responses.

Edwina Nsa, Chef
“My daughter is the first thing I would think of. If my daughter wasn’t in the house and the possibility of me being burnt is high, to hell with possessions I will ignore everything. However, if the fire is mild and I have some time to react I will pick my phone and MacBook. My credentials are all online or can be gotten again. Life is too short not to have a MacBook Pro and iPhone while alive.”

Idoko Negedu, Documentary Photographer
“My camera. That’s where all my work is so that’s the first thing I would grab.”

Imeneke Ennang, Pilot
“I actually think about this from time to time. I would pick my phone so that I can communicate. In every house I sleep in I check around to see a possible escape route and stay close to the thing I need in event of an emergency . Like if I’m wearing lingerie to sleep I should know where I can quickly pick up something decent to wear outside after escaping.”

Anita Imoh, Entrepreneur
“ I don’t know what means so much to me that I would risk my life for. My documents , I would go for that. “

Brenda Okoro, Student
“My certificates are hidden so before I get there, the fire may get worse. I will just run for my life.”

Ama Henry, Business woman
“What would I take? Honestly, my phone. Because I need to be able to make the necessary calls after the whole ordeal. If I had time I’d pick my makeup. I am somewhat of a collector of some name brands and I would want to save them.”

Godwin Sam, IT
“My system. That’s my most prized possession and all my work is there. That’s the thing I would be pained most about if I lost it so I would grab it first.”

Dolapo Daniel, Entrepreneur
“Myself and my phone. My life is very important and my phone because I would need it obviously.

Chima George, Student.
“My shoes. I’m a shoe freak and my shoes are more expensive than all my other things put together including my laptop and phone.”

Blessing Akpan? Hair Stylist
“I’ll pick my bag of clothes if I can. So I would at least have a change of clothes to start with because everything would be burnt. I’m assuming my phone was close to me so I would take that one, that’s a sure one.”

There you have it. Gadgets for the win! People are obviously more attached to their gadgets as it has become a tool and a gateway to many other things.

Always remember if you’re on fire to STOP, DROP and ROLL. That’s the first precaution to avoid being badly burnt. Saving your life should always come first.
