Speaking with journalists, Uchechukwu Amadi said the detention camp, an apartment at 21 Prophet Ashaye Close, New Igando, Lagos, where he lived with his wife, Ogechi was rented by Evans.

According to him, his wife, Ogechi, contacted one Ngozi who perfected the tenancy agreement before they moved in.

He said the victims who were usually brought in in the night blindfolded and chained in a room were kept for as long as Evans wanted.

Usually, the victims were detained until the payments of ransom were made, he said.

The detention could last several months, he added.

Amadi who said their victims were treated well because they were considered to be their cash cow from which money was made.

According to him, “my wife cooked and fed them.”

However, Amadi said he was not happy with Evans, following the disclosure that he made so much money from the activities which they were part of.

Said he:  “I did not know that victims were paying millions of dollars as ransom to Evans, neither did we know he was using the money to acquire choice properties. Nothing much has been given to me and my wife who was keeping and taking care of the victims.”

Amadi said he had known Evans while he was working at the motor park in Mazamaza in Lagos before he was made the head of the detention camp.

Amadi is from Ngo Okpala in Imo State.

It would be recalled that Evans was arrested by the police after a five years efforts.

He was arrested at his Magodo, Lagos residence on Saturday.

He has since confessed to being the brain behind most of the high profile kidnappings in the country, charging millions of dollars as ransom.

One of the two houses he has in Magodo costs N130 million while the other costs N70 million.
