Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr, has blamed the Super Eagles defeat by the visiting Bafana Bafana of South Africa on inexperience.

The Nigerian team, on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, failed to fly over the Coach Stuart Baxter’s tutored side.

The team lost 0-2 in the match they needed to stamp their group authority to boost their chances of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations finals billed for Cameroon.

Tokelo Rantie of South opened scoring at the 55th minute while team mate, Percy Tau, sealed it up at the 83rd minute after a drizzling runs past Nigeria goal tender, Daniel Akpeyi.

The Eagles were better in the first half which saw them dominating the play but they soon succumbed to the more experienced South Africans in the second half who converted all their chances.

Rohr said immediately after the match that his boys played well in the first half but lost to the South Africans as a result of lack of experience in the second half.

“We had difficulties in finishing the match because we made so many efforts in the first half while some of our players were tired in the second half.

“We tried to open the wings and bring power to the team but unfortunately it did not yield fruits

The German tactician however expressed the hope that the next world cup qualifiers against Cameroun would be better.

“I think the next game with Cameroun will be very interesting. It will be better, much, much better”, Rohr assured.

The South African Manager, Stuart Baxter, who was still basking in the euphoria of his side’s  defeat of the Super Eagles said  that his game plan was to ensure that the home team did not score in the first 20 minutes.

“We opened up the game in the first half but unfortunately we  did not score. Beating Nigeria is very interesting.

“Nigeria is a very good side but my boys prevented them from scoring. We are trying to develop our boys and expose them’’, he said.

By this defeat the Super Eagles will have to beat the South Africans in their own country to boost their chances of qualifying for the tournament In Cameroun.
