Re-run Polls: Police deploy five DIGs, 15 CPs, AIGs

The acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has deployed five Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, three Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and 15 Commissioners of Police to states where supplementary elections have been scheduled to hold on Saturday.

A statement from the force spokesman, Frank Mba, on Thursday, said that Benue and Sokoto states received three CPs each, Adamawa, Bauchi, Kano and Plateau states got two each while one was deployed to Imo state.

They are to support and strengthen the security plans already in place in the states.

The deployed DIGs are Yakubu Jubrin, Benue; Godwin Nwobodo, Bauchi, Usman Abubakar, Adamawa; Frederick Lakanu, Plateau; and Anthony Michael, Kano.

The IG, who commended the officers for their professionalism in the previous elections, charged them to remain patriotic, steadfast, professional, neutral and civil, but firm, in their conduct and actions during the supplementary elections.

He warned politicians to refrain from acts capable of undermining the electoral process such snatching of ballot boxes, vote buying and violence of any kinds, insisting that those who do so would be made to face the full consequences of the law.
