The National Population Commission (NPC) on Saturday flagged-off census enumeration exercise in Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina State, with the primary focus on enlightening the public on the forthcoming enumeration exercise.

The Nation reports that Rimi Local Government is the 11th local government on the row to be enumerated in an attempt to prepare grounds for the smooth conduct of the exercise ahead of the national population census.

The enumeration exercise brought together community leaders from all parts of the district to brainstorm on the objectives of the enumeration and how best it could be realised.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, SGS, Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, stressed the need to have accurate population database, which he said is paramount for sustainable development.

Stakeholders expressed hopes that NPC will work assiduously to correct lapses of past census exercises.
