Sen. Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the September 2018 Governorship election in Osun, has filed an appeal against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which declared Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, as winner of the poll.
In the appeal before the Supreme Court, Adeleke asked the apex court to set aside the ruling of the Appeal Court and uphold the decision of the Osun Election Petition Tribunal, which had earlier declared him the rightful winner of the election.
A statement by the Legal Director, Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Niyi Owolade, on Saturday in Osogbo said a team of 18 senior advocates led by Dr. Onyeachi Ikpeazu, SAN, has been engaged by Adeleke to challenge the Appeal Court judgement on his behalf.

According to the statement, Ikpeazu has already filed four appeals at the Supreme Court against each of the four majority judgements of the appeal court.
Recall that Osun State Election Petition Tribunal had on March 22 ruled that Adeleke was the rightful winner of the 2018 Governorship election, however, the Appeal Court on May 9, upturned the ruling and reinstated Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of the election.
Adeleke is, therefore, seeking from the Supreme Court an order: to allow his appeal, set aside the decision of the Appeal Court and dismiss the appeal of the respondent, against the judgement of the tribunal.
