Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, said on Thursday he was totally devastated by the sudden death of the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ini Titus Okopido.

Akpabio, in a statement issued in reaction to Okopido’s death, which occurred on Wednesday, expressed shock, pain and grief over the incident.
The statement personally signed by the Minister and made available to The Next Edition read: “I received the news of the death of my Chairman, Hon. Ini Titus Okopido this afternoon with shock, pain and grief. I am totally devastated, to say the least.
“I saw Hon Okopido recently when he came to Abuja, and spoke with him just a few days ago. I did not imagine that he was leaving us so soon.
“As the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Okopido was a committed and resourceful leader who was dedicated to the success and growth of our Party.

“He was dependable, trustworthy and full of optimism in his engagements with members and leaders of our great Party. His ability to connect so easily with the full spectrum of our people was one of the reasons he was so loved. We will miss him sorely.
“On behalf of my family, I send our heartfelt condolences to the family of our departed Chairman and the APC family in Akwa Ibom State.
“May the Almighty God grant us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and grant the deceased eternal rest”.
