The Nigerian National petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said that it has enough petroleum products to meet the demands of motorists in the event that the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, goes ahead with its proposed strike.
NLC has called out its members for an indefinite strike beginning Tuesday, Nov 6.
In a statement assuring Nigerians of its preparedness to meet their demands, NNPC’s spokesman, Ndu Ughamadu, said: “The Corporation had 39 days petroleum products sufficiency and about 25 days products availability on land. Motorists and other consumers of petroleum products are assured of adequate stock to meet their energy needs.’’

He also dismissed rumours of impending petroleum products scarcity in the country and advised motorists not to engage in panic buying, assuring that the corporation would do everything necessary to ensure the strike did not negatively affect fuel distribution in the country.
Ughamadu called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and volunteer information to the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) or any law enforcement agency around them, on any station that attempts to take advantage of any prevailing situation in the country at the expense of the consumers.
The statement explained that it had become necessary to provide information on the petroleum products stock level to dispel fears that the planned NLC strike would result to shortage of products across the country.
