The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunny and hazy weather conditions over the central states of the country on Friday.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Thursday in Abuja also predicted day and night temperatures of 28 to 36 and 15 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively in the states.

The agency predicted that southeastern states would have cloudy morning, with the prospect of localised thunderstorms over Calabar and Eket, with day and night temperatures of 30 to 34 and 21 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

It also predicted localised thunderstorms over Akure, Abeokuta, Ibadan, Enugu, Owerri, Awka, Warri, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Lagos in the afternoon and evening hours.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience dusty and hazy conditions over the North-East, while the North-West is to remain sunny and hazy throughout the forecast period.

“The region will experience day and night temperatures of 35 to 38 and 15 to 22 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Dusty, hazy conditions are expected over the north-eastern cities, while sunny and hazy conditions are expected over the north-western and central cities.

“However, localised thunderstorms are likely over some parts of the southern cities within the next 72 hours,” the agency predicted.
