NiMet predicts rains, thunderstorms, cloudy skies for Wednesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted prospects of thunderstorms and moderate rains over the Central states of the country, especially Niger, on Wednesday morning with cloudy skies over the rest of the region.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Tuesday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 36 and 17 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

It added that thunderstorms were expected to prevail over Abuja, Jos, Mambilla plateau, Gombe, Ibi, Bauchi, Abuja, Yola and its environs in the afternoon and evening hours.

The agency predicted that the southern states would experience cloudiness with prospects of thunderstorms and moderate rain showers over some places like Akure, Benin, Calabar, Enugu, Owerri, Uyo, Lagos, and its axis in the morning hours.

It also predicted thunderstorms/moderate rain showers over the inland and the coastal cities later in the day with day and night temperatures in the range of 31 to 33 and 22 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern states will experience chances of thunderstorms/moderate rain showers in the morning hours over Sokoto, Yelwa, Kaduna and Gusau while other places remain under cloudy conditions.

“Later in the day, prospects thunderstorms are likely over places such as Kano, Potiskum, Maiduguri, Katsina and Nguru axis with day and night temperatures of 34 to 42 and 23 to 27 degrees Celsius respectively.

 “Cloudy skies with prospects of isolated thunderstorms and rain showers over some part of the country with varying intensities are likely to prevail in the next 24 hours” NiMet predicts.
