NiMet predicts cloudy skies, rain showers for Saturday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudiness over central states of the country on Saturday morning.

The cloudiness is with prospects of localised thunderstorms over Yelwa, Minna, Bida, Ilorin, Shaki, Abuja, Lafia, Jos and Bauchi.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Friday in Abuja, also predicted day and night temperatures of 26 to 32 and 18 to 23 Degrees Celsius respectively.

It added that there would be chances of isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Makurdi, Minna, Mambilla, Jos, Lafia, Lokoja, Jalingo and Yola in the afternoon and evening hours.

The agency predicted that southern states would experience cloudy condition over Abeokuta, Oshogbo, Ado-Ekiti and Akure in the morning.

There will also be localised thunderstorms and rains over Enugu, Awka, Asaba, Umuahia, Abakaliki, Owerri, Lagos and Ijebu-Ode.

It also predicted localised thunderstorms over most parts of the region with day and night temperatures in the ranges of 28 to 31 and 21 to 23 Degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience cloudy conditions with prospects of localised thunderstorms over Damaturu, Nguru, Maiduguri and Potiskum in the morning hours.

Localised thunderstorms are also expected over Maiduguri, Sokoto, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Dutse, Potiskum and Gusau in the afternoon and evening hours.

“The northern states will also have day and night temperatures in the ranges of 29 to 34 and 22 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Weather charts show high moisture influx into the atmosphere with appreciable instability over the country expected to give rise to localised thunderstorms and rain showers over some parts of the north and central states.

“The southern areas are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall activities in the next 24 hours,’’ NiMet predicted.
