The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) said the new tariff reflective regime will strengthen power sector chains while revolutionising service delivery in Kano franchise.
The KEDCO stated this in a statement signed and issued to newsmen by the Head, Corporate Communications, Alhaji Ibrahim Shawai, on Thursday in Kano.
Recall that DisCos had announced the implementation of the new Service Reflective Tariff Plan (SRT) from Sept. 1.
According to Shawai, there was no need for customers to panic, as the intention of the tariff was genuine and in the interest of the customers.
He said it would also help to strengthen the capacity of KEDCO to end the regime of estimated billing and cut down the number of complaints in that regard.

The statement read in part: “The new tariff regime is not to put burden on anyone, but to strengthen the power chains for effective service delivery that will usher improvement in power generation, transmission and distribution across the country.
“This will strictly be based on service availability, quality supply and all customers should pay for their consumption based on hours of supply they enjoy.
“Customers should acquire their meters from any of KEDCO office.
“We are assuring our numerous customers that we will stick to the rule of operation and ensure that service delivery is revolutionised to better serve our customers in Kano franchise.”
