The 2018 budget has finally been sent to President Muhammadu Buhari by the National Assembly.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, made this known on Friday.

He said he had received the document and would pass it on to President Buhari any moment.

His words: “I have received the 2018 Appropriation Bill for onward transmission to the President as soon as possible.

“Since the Appropriation Bill has been received, what is left is for it to be transmitted immediately to the President.”

The budget which was raised from N8.61 trillion to N9.12 trillion was passed by the National Assembly on May 16, 2018 after a long delay.

Recall that the president passed the document to the National Assembly in November 2017.

Since its passage on May 16, the National Assembly held on to the document, according to the Senate President Bukola Saraki, to enable it harmonise the contributions of the two chambers – House of Representatives and the Senate.

Saraki who spoke when he led some legislators to break Thursday’s fast with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, promised that the document would be made available to the president on Friday.

It was therefore in fulfillment of the promise that the National Assembly passed the document to the Presidency and was acknowledged by Senator Enang.
