Onaola, a resident of Itesiwaju Estate, Ayegun in Ibadan told the court that his wife had the habit of disrespecting his mother and other members of his family.
The petitioner told the court presided over by Chief Ademola Odunade, that his wife’s repeated embarrassment of his mother and relations was his reason for seeking a divorce.
”In 2017, Tawakalitu started by insulting my mother even in her presence without any reason for it.
“I had tried to stop her from such disrespect to me and other relatives, but it occurred that she derives pleasure in the habit.
“Similarly, Tawakalitu comes to my school to cause mayhem, thus embarrassing me and my position.
“As if those are not enough, I sometimes catch her in heart-to-heart talks with men of easy virtue.
“Worst of all, Tawakalitu has been misguiding our two children against me by telling them to disrespect and disobey my instructions,” Onaola told the court.
The respondent consented to dissolution of the marriage, but denied the allegations leveled against her.
She, however, said that her mother in-law was not in support of the union.

“Besides being a nag who keeps complaining on all minor issues, Onaola is also an unrepentant drunkard.
“I don’t know how I offended his mother, she keeps raining curses on me.
“Onaola is a cheat, he is in a romantic affair with my friend’s maid,” she said.
Tawakalitu alleged that he once poured hot palm oil on her breasts during argument.
Delivering judgment, Odunade held that the court was duty-bound to put to an end to any union that might bring about bloodshed.
He pronounced dissolution of the marriage in the interest of peace and granted custody of the children to Tawakalitu.
The judge ordered Onaola to pay N10,000 as the children’s monthly upkeep in addition to being responsible for their education and other basic needs. (NAN)
