Despite the summon issued to him by the Senate over the arrest of the senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, refused to show up.
The Senate had on Wednesday summoned Idris to explain the situation surrounding Melaye arrest.
However, at the plenary on Thursday, Idris was said not to be available.

According to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Abu Ibrahim, Idris was in Bauchi and had directed the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG), Operations, to represent him.
The failure of the Inspector General of Police to appear did not go down well with the legislators who insisted that he must appear in person.
The position was supported overwhelmingly by the legislators and another summon was issued.
Idris has been scheduled to appear before the Senate, 11.00 a.m. next Wednesday.
