Nigerians may not get to know the amount spent by the country on President Muhammadu Buhari over his medical treatment abroad.
Already, a Federal High Court in Abuja has declared that the amount spent could not be made public under the Freedom of Information Act except the president approved of it.
The request for the information on how much of tax payers money was spent on the president’s medical trips abroad was sought by a group, Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative.
The civil society group filed a suit to that effect.

Giving the verdict on Tuesday in Abuja, Justice John Tsoho said the information was exempted by Section 14(1)(b) of the FoI Act, 2011.
He explained that it had to do with personal information of an elected person.
The court also ruled that the Central Bank of Nigeria and its Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had transferred the request for the information to the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, hence could not be held liable.
It would be recalled that at an instance, Buhari spent 103 days in London on medical vacation.
