Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Amuwo Odofin 1 constituency, Mojisola Alli-Maculay said on Thursday that many Nigerian youths are high on drugs most of the time.
She therefore called for the re-orientation of the Youths.
Alli-Maculay spoke during the House’s deliberation on the recent violence witnessed in the state after hoodlums hijacked the peaceful #EndSARS protest and carried out unmitigated destruction of public and private properties.
She noted that unemployment was not the problem of the youths but drug abuse.

She said in part: “Look at the children these days. The youths. I like your submission Mr. Speaker that it is not unemployment that should be the bane or the reason why youths will come out and misbehave.
“There are unemployment in so many countries of the world, even in the United States. I schooled in the UK and I saw a lot of young people who were not employed but they didn’t become hoodlums. Why can’t we look inwards and look for solutions to our problems. Why can’t young people look within themselves, look for their talents.
She said the National Orientation Agency should get to work setting the youths right.
“The National Orientation Agency needs to get to work. We need to begin to orientate our young people. They need people who can talk to them from time to time. They are high on drugs all the time, most of them. They go to social media and so all sorts of things. I’m even scared to give my young children phones because I am scared of what they may see on social media. It is that bad,” she stated.
