The federal government will do everything possible to put an urgent and permanent stop to the plight of Nigerian refugees in Libya and other European countries.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo made this known on Wednesday in Abuja at a meeting with heads of agencies in-charge of migration to strategise over the issue of Nigerian refugees abroad.
The meeting followed a directive to that effect by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Involved in the meeting were relevant agencies.
It was attended by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khadija Abba-Ibrahim and the Director-General, National Commission for Refugees, Migration and Internally Displaced Persons, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouk.

The Director-General, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking of Persons (NAPTIP), Julie Okah-Donli was also at the meeting.
At the meeting, the vice president said government was unhappy that young Nigerians were deceived by their unsuspecting customers and engaged in a dangerous journey that in some cases cause them their lives.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abidjan declared that all Nigerians stranded in Libya and other parts of the world would be brought home and rehabilitated.
The president spoke when he addressed Nigerians in the Diaspora.
He vowed to reduce the number of Nigerians heading for Europe illegally through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea by providing basic social amenities such as education, healthcare, and food security at home.
In an interactive session with members of the Nigerian Community in Cote D’ Ivoire, on the margins of the 5th AU-EU Summit, President Buhari said all necessary steps would be taken to stem the tide of illegal migration by Nigerians.
