Action Democratic Party (ADP) has called on citizens and residents of Kogi and Bayelsa states to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner, before, during and after the Saturday’s governorship elections in the two states.

The party maintained that the election was not worth the blood of any Nigerian, pointing out that they must resist any plot by desperate politicians, who would want to gain power at all cost, who believe that power could be gotten only through the use of force and violence.

ADP, had in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, on Friday, called on the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to ensure that the election would be conducted in a free, fair and credible manner and the lives of every voter protected.

Appealing to the security to maintain neutrality in the exercise, ADP said that the police and other security agencies deployed to the two states should arrest any form of violence or electoral manipulations which might occur.

“We also urge the police to monitor and secure the lives of all the local and international election observers and media crew, who would be on ground to cover the elections. Candidates could call their supporters to order, so that the elections can be conducted in a peaceful manner, without any hitches.

“Our great party wishes the good people of Kogi and Bayelsa States, peaceful elections, ensure they choose the best candidates, who would serve them and bring succor to the lives of the downtrodden,” he said.
