The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in possession of 14 bags of fake specimen ballot papers in the Kano metropolis.

This is coming a few days to the February 16 presidential and National Assembly elections.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, told newsmen in Kano, on Thursday, that the suspects were arrested around the Metro Police Area Command.

He said the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday evening by some police officers attached to the Metro Area Command in the metropolis.

According to Haruna, the suspects during interrogation, said they came from Jigawa State, adding that the materials were meant for sensitisation and orientation purposes.

“The ballot papers are specimen so they are not genuine ballot papers,” he stated.

He disclosed that investigation was still ongoing as the case had since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
