Some journalists in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday stormed the Police Headquarters, Abuja, asking the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, to provide answers on the missing National Assembly correspondent, Tordue Salem.
THEWILL reports that Salem, a journalist with Vanguard newspaper, was last seen October 13, 2021.
His colleagues and family members raised the alarm two days after his whereabouts could not be ascertained. The reporter’s disappearance was reported to the Police on October 15 for prompt action.
Despite efforts of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Salem’s whereabouts remains unknown.

Marking the thirteenth day of his disappearance, his colleagues on Monday stormed the Police Headquarters to demand immediate action from the security agency.
The aggrieved journalists, carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘Free Tordue now’, ‘Enough is enough’, ‘Stop violence against journalists’, ‘Free the press,’ ‘Journalists’ lives matter’ among others, sang “We want Tordue back alive.”
Addressing them at the gate of the Police Headquarters, the NUJ chairman, FCT chapter, Emmanuel Ogbeche, said all they want is for IGP Baba to come and state what the Force is doing about Tordue’s disappearance.
According to him, the Police boss must put all necessary apparatus in place to find Tordue Salem alive so he can reunite with his family.
“Keep faith. Be law-abiding as it is not time to fight or be violent,” he urged the journalists. (THE WILL)
