Harnaaz Sandhu of India has won this year’s Miss Universe crown after defeating 79 other contestants.
The beauty pageant was held in the Israeli city of Eilat on Monday morning.
Sandhu in her speech, urged young people to “know that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful, stop comparing yourself to others. I believed in myself, and that’s why I’m standing here today.” Her speech was followed by a thunderous applause from the audience.

Nadia Ferreira emerged the first runner-up, while Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane emerged second runner-up.
Maristella Okpala, who represented Nigeria, was awarded the Best in National Costume.
