No fewer than 11 persons were killed and four others wounded on Tuesday as gunmen opened fire on villagers who were returning from Rim-Dyem market in Riyom, Plateau State.
Spokesman of Plateau State Police Command, Mr. Terna Tyopev, who made this known said the incident happened at about 7.30 p.m. when the villagers were returning from a local market.
He added that those injured were taken to Christian Hospital at Vom.
He said investigation had begun but no arrest had been made yet.

His words: “No arrest has been made, but we are already investigating the incident; we shall not rest until the attackers are fished out.”
Pointing out that more security personnel had been deployed to the community, the police warned the people not to take laws into their hands.
It would be recalled that some communities have been under attack in Plateau State in recent time.
Some of those affected are Wereh, Foron and Rim in Barkin Ladi Local Government, as well as Miango, Jebu, Taegbe and Ncha in Bassa Local Government.
