Some gunmen on Tuesday stormed the residence of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, killing a policeman mounting guard.
The house which is located at Karshi, a suburb of Abuja was attacked at about 10 p.m.
The residence, according to report is not occupied.
However, some cattle are reared in the compound.
The gunmen were reported to have overpowered the policeman on duty, tied him and beaten him up.

A source disclosed that the policeman died of the beating he received from the gunmen.
The house is said to have been attacked some months ago, hence drafting of policemen to ensure security.
Efforts to speak with the Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren to confirm the attack proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
It would be recalled that an attack was launched on the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on August 16, 2017.
The gunmen could, however, not enter the complex because security guards on duty repelled them.
Uwujaren, in a statement on the incident said the “hoodlums escaped in a getaway vehicle but not without leaving a message; a white envelope dropped by the fleeing attackers was found to contain a death threat addressed to Ishaku Sharu, a senior investigator with the commission.”
Ishaku, who heads the foreign exchange malpractices fraud section, is in charge of corruption investigation involving several politically exposed persons and retired military men.
