The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has debunked news reports alleging that the governorship election in Benue state has been declared inconclusive.

The Central Agent for the PDP, Alex Adum who made the denial condemned the report by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN alleging that the governorship election in Benue was declared inconclusive.

Adum who spoke to journalists at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, headquarters in Makurdi threatened to take legal action against FRCN for carrying fake news and misleading members of the general public.

The PDP Agent who wondered why a radio corporation of such high repute would report that when results are still being collated stated that there was no iota of truth in the report and called on the Benue people and Nigerians to disregard it.

He said that with the results declared so far, it would be premature for anyone to begin to speculate that the elections are inconclusive. “So I call it mischief of the highest order.”

He said the reporter who filed that report at Radio Nigeria deserved to be sanctioned just as he called on the media chiefs to always verify report before going to press.

Adum said the world was watching and the Benue people were also waiting to hear the results of the governorship election which held on March 9, 2019.

Recall that INEC in Makurdi had on Sunday evening, adjourned collation to 9am on Monday morning, after announcing result from 21 out of the 23 local governments in Benue. Only Konshisha and Vandeikya local government results were still pending.

Announcing the Vandeikya result Monday morning, the collation officer for the LG, Prof. Sebastian Maimako said the PDP polled 27,124 votes defeating its close contender, the APC which got 18,579 votes.

The Vandeikya results is the 22nd local government result to be announced by INEC. Konshisha is still being awaited.
