The eighth edition of the Annual Autism Conference organised by Guaranty Trust Bank is holding on Tuesday and Wednesday at the MUSON Center, Onikan, Lagos.

The theme for the event this year is “Raising a child with Autism, the role of family and the community.

The event will bring together globally renowned medical specialists, parents, caregivers, health practitioners and members of the public to have discussions on how to support children and people with Autism.

In its bid to support those living with Autism, GTBank launched the Orange Ribbon Initiative.

The platform supports children and adults living with Autism and other developmental disabilities.

Experts in various fields will talk on a range of topics like the role of government in Autism advocacy, the role of mental health in the community and meeting the need of families among others.

This year’s conference will begin with the conference which is open to the public.

After the conference there will be free one-on-one consultations for children with Autism and other developmental challenges as well as counselling of their parents and guardians.

There will also be sessions for Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Behaviour Analysis, Audiology, Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychiatry, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy.
