The Federal Government has ordered a probe into the mace snatching episode in the Senate on Wednesday.
Some thugs, said to be led into the chamber by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, snatched the mace which is the symbol of authority of the Legislature and went away with it.
While ordering a probe into the matter, the Federal Government, according to a statement issued by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, expressed shock over the development.

He added that security agencies had been directed to beef up security to forestall a repeat of the situation.
