Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has vowed that he would fulfill his promise to submit himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday.

His scheduled time is 1.00 p.m.

Fayose made the promise on Monday at a valedictory dinner organised for him by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abuja.

“Tell them at the Villa.  My name is Ayodele Fayose, Peter the Rock.  By the Grace of God, I will be at the EFCC by 1 p.m. I am not a coward.

“Let it be said to them that today is their own,  tomorrow is our own. I will not run away, they will rather run away. They took me to Court 13 years ago, I won after eight years.

“They harassed my family and I got judgment three times against them. This time will not be an exception. Those who wait for me will wait in vain. EFCC is no court,” he declared.

Fayose had in a letter dated September 10, 2018 assured the EFCC that he would, on October 16, submit himself for probe over alleged financial malpractices.

On that date, he would have left office as governor and lost the immunity he enjoyed.

“I wish to inform you that my term of office pursuant to which I enjoy immunity against investigation and prosecution under the above provision shall lapse by effluxion of time on Monday, 15th October, 2018.

“As a responsible citizen of our great country, who believes in the rule of law, I wish to inform you of my decision to make myself available in your office on Tuesday, 16th October 2018 at 1 p.m. to clarify issues or answer questions within my knowledge,” the letter reads in part.

Speaking at the dinner in honour of Fayose, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, said the party was proud of Fayose.

However, he warned the EFCC that the world would be watching how Fayose’s case would be treated.

He said the anti-graft commission should adhere to the rule of law.

Said he:  “The world is watching, international communities are also watching what will happen to this gentleman that has performed well in Ekiti.

“So when you invite him and he honours it, he is not a coward. If you tamper with his human rights and you detain him, the whole world will cry out.”
