The General Manager of Harvest FM, Radio Nigeria, Makurdi, Mrs. Christy Okpachu has commended members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Benue State Council, for organizing an event campaigning against quackery in the media profession.
The GM stated this, in her office, on Wednesday, when she received, on courtesy visit, members of the Correspondent Chapel led by the Chairman, Tor Vande-Acka.
Mrs. Okpachu said the fight against quackery was a step in the right direction as the media was begining to lose its integrity and reliability due to the influence of quacks and social media and attendant fake news.
The Correspondent Chapel is organizing a two-day event to mark the 2020 Press Week.
The event which will feature paper presentations, award ceremony and almanac presentation has the Theme: “The Relationship Between The Mass Media, The Government And The People”.

The GM said Radio Nigeria would support and partner with the Correspondents and other partners to sanitize the profession and return it to its past glory.
Earlier, the Chairman, Correspondent Chapel, Mr. Tor Vande-Acka congratulated the GM on her new appointment and sued for partnership between the chapel and Harvest FM to take the media-media relationship to another level.
The Chairman said that the launching of the almanac will check the issue of impersonation by fake journals in the state.
