Kaka Igbokwe, former manager of music star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia and son of the late music legend Christy Essien-Igbokwe, has confirmed that the recently resurfaced video showing the singer being arrested in London is genuine.
The incident reportedly occurred during 2Baba’s trip to the United Kingdom with his pregnant wife, Natasha Osawaru, for a concert tour. The singer missed a scheduled performance on October 2, 2025, prompting widespread speculation that he had been detained following a clash with Natasha, who is also a lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly.
Speaking during an Instagram Live session hosted by broadcaster Daddy Freeze on Monday night, Igbokwe said the viral footage accurately captured what happened, adding that “everything you heard about the couple’s face-off was true.”
Recounting the events, Igbokwe, who travelled on the same flight and was part of the London tour team, said tensions rose after they arrived at the airport. According to him, Natasha became upset when she felt 2Baba had left her behind while he walked off with fans who had welcomed him and ushered him into a nearby shop.
Realising that his wife was no longer with him, 2Baba reportedly rushed back, only to be confronted by Natasha. The disagreement escalated, and police officers intervened, leading to the singer being handcuffed and taken aside.
The video of the arrest, which resurfaced online on December 1, 2025, reignited public debate, especially after many recalled that 2Baba had previously denied the story. At the time, the singer released a video on Instagram refuting claims of an arrest and attributing his absence from the show to a medical emergency. Despite his denial, rumours continued to spread across social media and gossip platforms.
The controversy was revived after blogger Tosin Silverdam posted what he claimed was new evidence, clips allegedly showing the arrest at London’s Gatwick Airport and another recording of the couple arguing. “The video is finally out,” he wrote in the caption accompanying the footage on Instagram and X.
Screenshots from the clips show police officers speaking with 2Baba outside a store before escorting him away. Silverdam also posted another video showing the couple arguing, suggesting Natasha reacted out of jealousy over the attention the singer was receiving from fans.
