The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its presidential candidate in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly election, Atiku Abubakar, have asked the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to allow them inspect election materials used for the conduct of the poll.

Their prayer is contained in an ex parte application filed through their lawyer, Chris Uche, SAN, filed before the Tribunal on Tuesday.

The application is explicitly asking the tribunal for an order granting them permission to inspect the Voters Registers, the Smart Card Reader Machines, ballot papers and other documents used for the conduct of the February 23 poll.

This is in preparation to filing of an election petition.

The application has the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, as respondents.

Recall that INEC had on February 27 declared President Buhari, who ran for re-election on the platform of the APC, winner of the Presidential election.
