Mr. Atu Evbaguehita, the member, representing Edo State in the board of the Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOPADEC), in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state, on Thursday resigned his membership of EDSOPADEC to enable him support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the forthcoming election.
Evbaguehita, who made the declaration at Orhionmwon where he officially endorsed the candidacy of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, also announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pitch tenth with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Giving reasons for his action, Evbaguehita said the time had come for the people of Orhionmwon to have one of their sons as governor and it was incumbent on them to rally round Ize-Iyamu to actualise this dream.

Evbaguehita said as a proud son of Orhionmwon, it would not be proper for him to be sitting on the fence, but to support his kinsman, adding, “The people of Orhionmwon stand a better chance of enjoying the dividends of democracy that had long eluded them, under the leadership of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu than any other person.”
He said the Orhionmwon people would not jeopardise that chance of having one of their sons as the governor, alleging that Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration had no plans for the development of Orhionmwon.
He also stated that he had to resign from the EDSOPADEC board because it was allegedly tied to the apron string of the governor, just as he also alleged that members representing the various constituencies were never allowed to initiate programmes, projects and policies for the good of their people.
He called on all the sons and daughters of Orhionmwon to use their voter cards wisely by voting the APC governorship candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
