Ecobank, the leading pan-African banking group, has won the Bank of the Year Award in five of its countries of operation.
The Banker award, which was held in Lome, the capital of Togo recently had the banking group emerging the bank of the year in Gambia, Cameroun, Guinea, Togo and Uganda.
According to Ecobank, this is the second consecutive year that The Banker, part of the Financial Times and organizers of the award has honoured the pan-African bank.
The organizers said the bank in the named countries were adjudged to have made significant progress over the past 12 months, not only in terms of strong financials but by introducing new innovative products and services which have transformed their customer service delivery.
Ade Ayeyemi, Ecobank Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), said the bank was highly honoured by the recognition and will forge to remain relevant in Africa’s banking world “Ecobank is truly honoured to receive these awards. He said over the past year, Ecobank has worked hard to strengthen its digital service delivery in order to fulfill their promise to connect Africa and reach out to the masses.
He maintained that Ecobank’s geographical spread across 33 African countries tells just how committed they are to the pan-African model. “The awards demonstrate that we are making progress delivering
the bank’s integrated African vision, while continuing to innovate,” he said.
