The Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday appealed to those who stood as sureties for the detained convener of the RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore to come forward.
Spokesperson for DSS, Dr. Peter Afunnaya, who made the appeal at a press briefing in Abuja, said the service would require the sureties to come and properly document with it to enable it to release Sowore on bail as ordered by the courts.
According to him, the service owed a responsibility to Nigerians as well as the detainee to ensure that proper procedure was followed and that the detainee is released to the right and proper persons.

“If someone has stood as surety for someone let the person come and document properly.
“Let the people come and document properly. We stand to discharge our responsibility in line with global best practices,” Afunnaya said.
Sowore, who was arrested in August and charged with treasonable felony and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari, was granted bail on October 4, 2019 by an Abuja Federal High Court.
Though he has met the conditions of his bail, the DSS is yet to release him.
