A chauffeur-driven woman narrowly escaped death on Tuesday when his drunk driver rammed into a tricycle, popularly known as Keke Marwa.

The incident happened at the Bonny Camp roundabout in Victoria Island at about 11.00 a.m.

Men of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority, LASTMA, at the roundabout were confounded as the accident happened.

They had simply told the driver to park when he accelerated the car and caused the accident.

When the driver came out of the car, he was found out to be drunk.

The situation created gridlock at the roundabout.

Speaking to The Next Edition over the incident, a LASTMA official who pleaded anonymity explained: “We only tried to stop him by asking him to park. We wanted to take a close look at him, unfortunately as he moved off traffic to park he accelerated and hit the Keke.

“No one is injured as you can see but the car is destroyed,” he said.
